I. Bridal Shows Introduction 

For more than 25 years throughout the United States (as well as here in the Capital Region area) it has been a tradition to have one bridal show promoter for each host location. A promoter invests time and money to build a show at a particular location. After many years of promoting a show at the same location, the reputation of the show, the location and the promoter becomes one. 

If a promoter were to arrange a bridal show at the same location as an existing show, it would be as if the new promoter wanted to ride on someone else's laurels.  Almost all bridal promoters in our area should feel proud that they are ethical and observe the one location - one promoter rule. These promoters enjoy their much deserved fine reputation and present high quality bridal shows.  The general public waits for the annual announcement of the next bridal show date at a particular location.

 Colonie Center

 

ON OCTOBER 11, 2006  - Colonie Center's Gen. Mgr. cancelled Nov. 12 Bridal Show - reason stated:  best to wait until all renovations complete.

 9/15/06 -  A Touch of Class Limos and A Touch of Class Marketing have selected Colonie Center as the location for their 16th annual Fall Bridal Show .....Because........the area’s most amazing “best kept secret” is out!  The exterior and interior changes at Colonie Center are happening!

Cheesecake Factory is already drawing a tremendous amount of incremental traffic into the mall.   Major interior renovations  include  a series of high-end Adirondack themed soft comfortable seating areas within the mall, including a stone clad fire place area, fountain area, comfortable leather seating areas, television viewing areas with modern full size flat screen televisions, children’s play area and family room.    Renovations to the mall’s central area, together with the strong anchor tenant sales at the ends of the mall should create a dynamic cross flow of pedestrian traffic. 

Sundays are already one of  the Mall’s heaviest traffic days and Sunday Brunch at the Cheesecake Factory should increase traffic even more!!!   Bridal Shows are traditionally held on a Sunday and November 12, Noon to 4pm will be a very busy and exciting Bride's Day at Colonie Center.   Continuous informal modeling of fashions will take place at exhibitor booth areas.

2005 Show Locations:    Colonie Center on Wolf Road.   The Holiday Inn Turf on Wolf Road is a great place to have your reception.  The State Room in downtown Albany will bring back memories of a bygone era.  The "best of the past blended with the best of today" makes an elegant location for any and all events.  The Colonie Golf and  Country Club in Voorheesville is open air elegance and the inside is regal and the grounds are elegant.  It is always exciting to go to an event at the Times Union Center (formerly Pepsi Arena) on S. Pearl St. in Albany.  The  annual Wedding Show at the Times Union Center (formerly Pepsi Arena) is an event - not to be missed!

Bridal shows enable a bride to meet and visit with many wedding experts at one location.  Every exhibitor offers a prize drawing at their booth.   The Wedding Show at the Times Union Center (formerly Pepsi Arena) was first with continuous informal modeling at exhibitor's booth area and also first with a special Groom's Prize Drawing. 

As stated in our "Wedding Planning Article" on www.PocketWeddingGuide.com, it is a good idea for brides to bring along pre-addressed labels for prize drawing entry.  Before the show,  add your date of wedding, telephone number and email address to your preprinted labels.  It's important to print your info as clearly as possible.
